Visa Bulletin MCP Server
Connect your AI assistant to CareerEngine's visa bulletin archive, and it can look up green card cut-off dates for you: the latest bulletin, a category's history, and which months we have. It is free, needs no account and only reads data.
Server URL
https://visa.careerengine.us/api/mcpThis one URL is all any client needs. No API key, no sign-in.
Add it to your assistant
Menu names change between app versions. If yours looks different, look for “Connectors” or “MCP” in settings. Some plans, and some company workspaces, only let an admin add connectors.
Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose “Add custom connector”.
- Name it (e.g. CareerEngine Visa Bulletin) and paste the server URL. Leave the OAuth fields empty.
- Click Add. In a chat, turn it on from the “+” menu under Connectors.
Claude Code (terminal):
claude mcp add --transport http careerengine-visa-bulletin https://visa.careerengine.us/api/mcpChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it, paste the server URL, and set Authentication to “No authentication”.
- Save, then pick the connector from the “+” menu in a new chat.

}The three tools
Your assistant picks the tool and fills in the parameters. You just ask in plain words.
Latest bulletin get_latest_bulletin
The newest Visa Bulletin CareerEngine has: Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing for employment (EB-1 to EB-5) and family (F1 to F4) categories, by country. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD; C means current (no cut-off), U means unavailable.
category(optional)- Category, e.g. EB-2, EB-1, EB-5 Rural, F2A, F4. Leave it out for every category.
country(optional)- Chargeability: all (all other countries), china, india, mexico or philippines. Leave it out for every country.
Category history get_category_history
Month by month Final Action Date and Date for Filing for one category and one country. Most categories start 2006-08; F2A goes back to 2001-12 (China 2005-01). Dates for Filing began with the October 2015 bulletin, so earlier months return null for it.
category(required)- Category, required, e.g. EB-2, EB-3, EB-5 Rural, F4.
country(optional)- Chargeability: all (all other countries), china, india, mexico or philippines. Default: all.
from(optional)- First month, YYYY-MM. Default: 24 months before to.
to(optional)- Last month, YYYY-MM. Default: the newest month CareerEngine has.
Available months list_bulletins
Which bulletin months CareerEngine has: the oldest (2001-12), the newest, and the full list. Each month has its own page on this site.
year(optional)- Four-digit year, e.g. 2025, to list only that year.
Things to ask
- “In the latest bulletin, what are the Final Action Date and Date for Filing for EB-2 China?”
- “How far did EB-3 India's Final Action Date move each month over the last two years?”
- “How has F2A for all countries moved since 2019?”
- “How far apart are EB-1 China and EB-2 China right now?”
- “Which 2015 bulletin months does CareerEngine have?”
What it does and does not do
- Read-only. It only looks up published bulletin data; it cannot change anything.
- No forecasts. It reports what the State Department published, not when your date will be current. For our forecasts, see the analysis pages on this site.
- Data source: the US Department of State's monthly Visa Bulletins, as archived by CareerEngine. Every answer names the bulletin month it is from (data_as_of) and links to the matching page here (source_url).
- “CareerEngine's latest” is not always “the current bulletin”. Answers say “CE latest = <month>, fetched <date>”. Around mid-month the State Department may already have published the next one before we add it, and the answer says so.
- Anonymous, with a limit of 30 requests per minute per IP address. That is plenty for a conversation; past it, the server asks the client to wait up to a minute.
- No personal data: it does not know your priority date or case. The server only counts, per day, how many times each tool was called and from which kind of client (Claude, Cursor and so on); it does not record your questions or the parameters sent.
